Welcome to my blog. Here we share about the missionary projects we are involved in. Each small section attempts to communicate a little about our activities with you.
Rodrigo Tinoco
I have a master's degree in data for intelligence and am a career missionary with the organizations SEPAL, Faith Comes By Hearing and Joshua Project, sent and supported by generous Brazilian local churches. I am passionate about the stewardship of knowledge applied to the mission of making God known. Since 2010, I have been using data to identify oral culture peoples groups who have not yet heard of Jesus Christ, promoting access to Scripture through the Audio Bible. I have been serving since 2000, having lived in the US, China, and traditional communities. I am married to Sarah and the father of four children.
What do I do?
I serve the local and global church through two ministries: church planting and Bible translation. I use my talents in data management and collaborative network integration to connect people and strategic resources. In church planting, I research ethnic groups; in translation, I research language groups. In this way, I help strengthen missionary efforts, especially through scenario analysis and the Audio Bible, so that everyone can hear the Gospel that is Jesus Christ.
Missionary programs and projects
The Latin American Peoples Groups and Languages Research Program uses cutting-edge processes and technology to identify and describe communities and languages in the region, gathering comprehensive and organized information. The goal is to provide the church with useful and accessible data that enables immediate missionary action, especially in the areas of church planting and Bible translation. In this way, the program seeks to highlight the regions and peoples most in need of outreach, strengthening Christian missionary work. The initiative has a strategic partnership with the missionary organization Joshua Project, the main collaborator in the execution and expansion of activities.
The Scripture Use Program, focused on the Audio Bible and oral tradition in Brazil, promotes access to the Word of God through community listening to the Scriptures, restoring the value of oral tradition in church life. Through the use of the Audio Bible and initiatives aimed at forming listening groups, the program trains local communities in best practices for interacting with the oral text as a tool for evangelism, discipleship, teaching, and spiritual transformation. In this way, it strengthens the local church, promotes inclusion, and renews the missionary commitment of the Christian faith. The initiative has a strategic partnership with the missionary organization Faith Comes Through Hearing, the main collaborator in the execution and expansion of activities.
The Resource Integration Program for the Bible Translation Movement in Latin America was created with the purpose of uniting efforts, connecting people, and sharing knowledge so that the Word of God can reach further. Still in development, the program has strengthened several organizations and regional alliances by supporting data management and the strategic use of information. Each partnership represents a new opportunity to serve and cooperate in advancing Bible translation. Because it deals with sensitive information and diverse contexts, the program operates in a decentralized manner: each partner organization plays a leading role in the execution and expansion of activities, contributing to a more collaborative and sustainable translation movement throughout Latin America.

Data 4 Mission
D4M | Data 4 Mission | Data for Missions is an initiative dedicated to equipping and engaging volunteers and mission-minded individuals to use strategic data in support of missionary organizations across Brazil. Its goal is to connect people with talents in data analysis, technology, and strategic intelligence to mission projects, fostering greater social and evangelistic impact through informed decision-making. By turning information into action, D4M strengthens the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of mission efforts, enabling more effective and context-aware outreach.
Lausanne Movement
I have been influenced by and involved with the Lausanne Movement since 2010. The movement is organized into Issue Networks. I am directly involved with the “Research and Strategic Information” network. In addition to three other networks that I follow: Orality and Culture, Missions and Finance, Use of Scripture. In 2024, I co-authored the “State of the Great Commission Report (SoGC 2024)” with the team behind the article “Ministry Data in the Digital Age.”

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and Cross-Cultural Missions
I am a business computing expert with extensive experience in large-scale innovative projects. For years, nothing seemed capable of surprising me.
Since 2010, I have directed my passion and skills toward bringing the Gospel to remote regions where conventional technology does not reach. My work focuses on three essential pillars: church planting, Bible translation, and the training of local leaders. In this context, far from urban centers and with limited resources, the technology that stood out the most to me was the Proclaimer (audio Bible), a simple yet highly effective high-tech tool that has become indispensable in fulfilling these purposes. Until then, no other technological innovation had significantly captured my attention.
Recently, however, generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has changed this scenario. GenAI and the alphabet soup that comes with it—such as LLM, SLM, VLM, LVM, GAN, GPT, ELMo, MITL, CoT, MoE, RLHF, EeFT, RAG, DAG, GFM, GNN, to name a few—have truly impressed me with the potential of this technology. I believe we are just at the beginning of a revolution that will transform all sectors where computers are used.
Despite this advancement, I maintain the same three focuses in my ministry. I am clear that I do not wish to apply GenAI in contexts such as offices or social media. Instead, I am constantly reflecting and praying, seeking ways to integrate this technology into the ministry of bringing the Gospel to the most remote places in Brazil and the world. GenAI represents a new frontier, and I am excited to explore how it can amplify the impact of the work I do.
